Real Insurance provides quality value car, home and contents insurance to Australian customers. However, they offer much more than this. As of 2005, when they entered the Australian market, their chief objective was to “protect the quality of people’s lives”. As such, their staff are on-call to offer fantastic service to help meet the needs of policyholders. This is confirmed by the number of awards they have won.

Which car insurance policies does Real Insurance offer?

Real Insurance has a variety of car insurance policies designed to give customers flexibility and choice. Learn more about standard cover types below.

Comprehensive

Comprehensive is the highest level of car cover and, there are different product options based on how you use your vehicle. This policy includes benefits like:

  • Cover for collision, fire, theft or attempted theft, malicious damage and natural events
  • Legal liability, damage to other people’s property in an accident
  • New for old replacement – 24months
  • Trailer and Caravan cover if they are damaged
  • A hire car after theft, for up to 14 days
  • Personal Property
  • Emergency travel and accommodation costs
  • Reasonable Towing costs

On top of these benefits, customers may have the option to choose optional extras such as:

  • Hire car cover
  • Roadside assistance
  • Excess free windscreen cover covers the cost of replacing or repairing the front windscreen of your car if it’s accidently broken or damaged. Excess free once per insurance period.

Pay As You Drive

Real Insurance’s Pay As You Drive cover type offers the same coverage as their Comprehensive policy in a package that’s based on how much you plan to drive your car. This means you set a limit for the number of kilometres you’re going to drive in a set 12-month period. So, if you don’t use your car much, your policy will likely be cheaper than a regular comprehensive policy.

Third Party Fire and Theft

Customers looking for quality coverage at a more competitive price to protect their car can choose a Third Party Fire and Theft cover type. Generally, this cover type covers:

  • Loss or damage to your vehicle from fire, theft and attempted theft
  • Legal liability, cover for cars and property that you damage in an accident
  • A hire car after theft, for up to 14 days

Third Party Property Damage

This is the basic level of car insurance and is ideal for customers that are looking for basic cover legal liability to other people’s property.

Third Party Property Damage includes cover for things like:

  • Legal liability, damage to other cars and property where you are at fault
  • Damage to your vehicle from uninsured drivers

Both this level of cover and Third Party Fire and Theft also have roadside assistance as an optional extra.

N.B. By law, drivers are required to have Compulsory Third Party insurance (CTP or Green Slip in New South Wales), on their vehicle. Real Insurance’s Third Party Property Damage Insurance is not a CTP policy.

Additional benefits

Real Insurance has other benefits you can choose when you take out a policy. These benefits include:

  • discounts when purchasing a policy online
  • 24/7 emergency claims lodgement and support.
