Guardian Insurance offers financial protection for you and your loved ones and provides peace of mind for you. They offer a range of products such as life insurance, income protection, funeral insurance and pet insurance – the latter of which is underwritten by Hollard Insurance.
Guardian Insurance offers three levels of cover, so depending on your pets needs and your budget, you can choose what’s right for you.
Read the relevant Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) to understand the terms, conditions, inclusions and exclusions of any insurance product before purchasing.
It’s hard to say how much pet insurance costs because there are many factors which contribute to the overall cost, and it differs for everyone. Your premiums will be calculated based on factors like your pet’s age and breed, as well as the level of cover you choose.
If you’d like an idea of how much you could potentially pay for pet insurance, you can request a quote through our pet insurance comparison service.
There are a few ways you can make a claim on your Guardian Pet Insurance policy. If your vet offers GapOnlyTM, you can make a claim on the spot at the vet. If not, you can claim through the Guardian Pet Insurance online claims portal, or by simply filling out the claims form and posting it to their supplied address.
Remember, if it’s your first time making a claim, you’ll need some documentation like your pet’s full medical history and your pet’s adoption paperwork and medical records since adoption (if applicable).
Guardian Insurance typically won’t cover treatments relating to your pet’s pre-existing medical condition. However, you can apply for a review of the pre-existing condition exclusion if your pet hasn’t exhibited any of the signs or symptoms of the condition for 18 months. You’ll need to provide supporting documentation from your vet in order to prove this. Be sure to carefully read the relevant PDS for the full terms and conditions.
If you’ve chosen to add the optional extra of Routine Care to your Guardian Pet Insurance Platinum Accident and Illness policy, teeth cleaning might be covered for a portion of the vet bill, up to $50. Otherwise, oral cleaning and procedures aren’t usually covered.
Unfortunately, pet insurance can’t cover everything. Some things which aren’t covered by Guardian Pet Insurance policies include:
You can insure your pet with Guardian Pet Insurance from eight weeks of age. You can take out their Platinum and Gold level of cover before they reach nine years of age, or their Bronze cover before your pet turns 16 years of age.
The great news is once your pet is insured with Guardian Pet Insurance, they guarantee to renew your pet’s policy for life, subject to the renewal terms and conditions – provided premiums are paid and as long as you don’t cancel your cover at any time.
Vet bills can escalate quickly and become costly. If your beloved pet is injured or falls ill, why add the stress of figuring out how to pay for their treatment on top of your concern for their welfare? By taking out pet insurance, you’ll be eligible to claim your pet’s treatment back through your policy.

~ You may be eligible for a higher limit and if so, this will be stated on your applicable Certificate of Insurance.
